Christmas 2016

Our Holiday Card - 2016{Our Holiday Card – 2016}

I figured I should probably get around to doing a little post-holiday Christmas post, seeing as we’re getting pretty close to Valentine’s Day now.  (Woohoo – springtime is just around the corner!)

Our holidays this year were nice and probably pretty standard for a young family. We had some big get-together family time, some FaceTime family time, some just-the-three-of-us-at-home family time, and a little dash of baby sick time.

It was really nice seeing everyone, and those we could not see were ever present on our fridge throughout the holidays.

Big get-together family time

Our holidays started by heading to Don’s hometown and spending time with our family there. Don’s sister, Jess, was home from out West with her hubby and their little guy, so we wanted to make sure we got to see them as much as we could. And why not try to take another big ol’ family photo while almost everyone was home? :-)

FaceTime family time

We FaceTimed with my mom on Christmas, and then her, my brothers, and Kaylee (my brother Donato’s girlfriend) sent along some photos of themselves opening up our gifts to them. My mom would probably kill me if she knew I put her up on the Interwebs, but the next photo is too cute not to share. :-)

Then on Boxing Day we headed back home to do our Christmas eve tradition of opening small gifts of books, snacks, and jammies and cozy into bed for our Christmas (on the 27th) Day celebration.

Our Christmas Day at home this past year was once again pretty chill. I don’t even think we did a big meal or anything – at most, we might have ordered pizza. We just got up, made coffee, had a bite to eat, and then started opening our gifts slowly while still in our holiday jammies.

And then just like that Christmas was over! We finished it off by eating our low-key supper and then putting Rowan to bed. Once the little man was asleep, Don and I got to enjoy our main family Christmas gift: our new kitchen table! We poured a few drinks and cozied up to a campaign of Castle Ravenloft, which we lost in epic fashion to the very last GARGOYLE that we had to fight.

Dah well! Next time, Gauntlet of Terror, next time. :-)
